Text: Discovering Our Past: Ancient Civilizations

We will be covering the California State Standards in this class.  This class will help students better understand geography, history, and democracy as they study ancient civilizations starting with the first hunters and gatherers.  Civilizations and cultures studied include:

Mesopotamia , Egypt, India, China, Israel, the Americas, Greece, and Rome.

Grades are divided the following way:

       Homework 15%

       Class work 20%

       Tests, quizzes, and projects 65%

Homework will usually be assigned Monday –Thursday with a very occasional weekend assignment if the student is working on a project or a current event. Students must learn to use their planner daily in order to be successful. This is a great tool for communication among students, parents, and teacher.

Some of the work done in class is by groups and therefore students will learn to be cooperative and helpful to others.

I will provide a caring, safe, quality, learning environment for my students.  Together, we can make this a giant step toward success in your future.

Effort is very important. Make each day count and be the best student you can be.
